MAHAANGALIN MAHAAN” – Avathar Sri Seshanatha!

(Avathar Sri SeshaNatha – The Sovereign Supreme!)

On the 10th.  of February, 2013, at about 8 a.m., I was winding up my work in the kitchen. I was alone at home that morning, and I had a photo of Mahaan Sri SeshaNatha, against a wall in the kitchen. Usually around that time, we have the television tuned in to the “Zee Tamil” channel that airs a series of devotional programmes, for nearly an hour’s slot. (between 8 and 9 a.m.)

There is a particular programme entitled, “Mahaangalin Darshanam” (“மகான்களின் தரிசனம்“, that translates as – ‘The Darshan of Mahaans’). This is a 10 minute slot where a renowned Tamil religious scholar called Shri. P.N. Parasuraman talks about the great lives of the Noble Saints of India. The life-history of each saint runs to about a handful of episodes. He had been talking about Siddhapurushas, saint-poets, Thirumoolar, Sri Kaka Bhujandar, Sri Vallimalai Swamigal, to name a few.

This programme has been aired, for quite some time now, and on and off, when I do get the time, I would watch it.

This morning, this programme was to begin, and when I heard the word “Mahaan”, I looked at Sesha Mahaan’s photo, and very very disappointedly wondered, why nobody ever talked about Sesha Mahaan in this programme. I suddenly felt so angry that while people talked about so many saints, our Beloved Sesha Mahaan, our ParaBrahmmam, our very own Lord of the Universe, was never ever acknowledged enough by our people, as an AvatharPurusha! I then wryly wondered which MahaPurusha, this man was going to talk about this morning!

As I sat to watch, he began saying that the Mahaan he was going to talk about from today was… “Seshadri Swamigal”.

When I heard “MAHAAN SESHADRI SWAMIGAL”, I was stunned, and gasped!! I looked at Mahaan’s photo again, and a strong shiver ran down my spine!!! It was too good to be true! I couldn’t believe my ears!

Then with great happiness, I heard the first episode of the series on Mahaan. This was great rejoicement indeed! Especially the way he describes Mahaan!

If the Infinite, Supreme, Unsurpassable, Omniscient and Omnipotent Paramaathma were to be given a Divine Human Form,…. – THAT very form is Mahaan Sri Seshadri Swamigal!” This is exactly how Shri. Parasuraman describes Sesha Mahaan. Oh God! How arresting, succinctly, beautifully stated!

A note to Sesha Bhakthas:

To date, 3 episodes have been telecast so far. Those interested in watching this programme (in Tamil), please tune in to “Zee Tamil” channel, at 7:35 a.m. Each morning. The programme goes by the name – “Mahaangalin Darshanam” (“மகான்களின் தரிசனம்“). There are no repeat telecasts.

YouTube does have videos entitled “Olimayamaana Ethirkaalam” (ஒளிமயமான எதிதர்காலம்”), that consolidates all the devotional programmes on Zee Tamil, and that runs up to an hour. It is slightly difficult to keep track of this particular programme, in those videos. Hence these pod casts. Please enjoy!

* I shall save each episode as a podcast and keep uploading it on this particular page. So please definitely keep checking for updates!
